Coppell High School is extremely proud of its award winning choirs. The Coppell Choirs consistently have ranked among the top choirs of Texas 5A public schools. Choral groups from Coppell High School have won numerous consecutive Sweepstake Trophies at Regional and State UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contests as well as several best in class and most outstanding trophies at other festivals and contests.

Over the past year, the choirs from Coppell High School have received a record number of awards. The Concert and Treble choirs won the Director’ s Choice Classic Competition in San Antonio in the 5A Non-varsity Division, and were named Division One winners and Most Outstanding in Class. At this year’s American Classic Invitational at the Meyerson Symphony Center, Varsity Women’s Choir won Overall Most Outstanding Varsity Women’s Choir and A Cappella Choir won Overall Most Outstanding Varsity Mixed Choir. The Vivace! show choir won Most Outstanding Show Choir and Best Choral Group in the American Classic Big D competition. CHS Madrigals made history and truly became “Triple Crown Winners”. They are the first choir in the state to ever win the American Classic Madrigal/Chamber Music Festival in San Antonio and be selected to perform at both the Texas Music Educator’s Association State Convention (Feb. 2006) and the American Choral Director’s Association SW Division Conference (March 2006) in the same year.

The CHS Choirs have performed locally, nationally and internationally American performance tours by CHS Choirs have included Chicago, Boston, New York City, San Antonio, St. Louis, and Washington D.C. International performance tours have included Quebec Canada, London England, Paris France, and Rome Italy.

CHS Varsity Choirs were invited to perform at the National Cathedral in Washington DC in a collaborative concert led by Dr. Z. Randall Stroope. While in Washington, the varsity choirs also performed for the troops at the Pentagon and sang the National Anthem in front of the White House.

In addition to the recognition received as a choral group, numerous students from Coppell High auditioned and were selected to participate in the District, Region and State Honor Choirs last year. In 2005, a record number of students also received recognition and medals for outstanding performances at the UIL Solo and Ensemble contest at both the District and State level.
